Vabbian Armor..
Hello,
I have recently decided to buy another set of Elite armor on my ranger and decided I would take on the dread Vabbian Elite armor set... Elite armor itself requires the following things..
What my question is, what would be the best and cheapest way acquire 16 Rubies and 16 Sapphires. Now, by that I mean the best way to acquire them spending the least amount of Money. At the Current cost of Rubies & Sapphires, it would take about 272k to pay for just the Rubies and Sapphires. Thanks for any opinion, ~IMAU |

The Ruby and Sapphire Djinn essences can be salvaged for rubies and sapphires. Or you can just buy trade contracts.

There is also a small chance to get rubies by expert salvaging Ruby Daggers (you can get them as drops throughout Vabbi, as well as out of Vabbian chests).
The way I approached getting Vabbian was to grind for something else I wanted (in my case it was stormy eyes to trade for spiked eggnog over Wintersday), and then used the cash that I made in the process to buy the gems. It seems less like you're wasting cash on gems and more like you're getting them as an extra bonus on top of the purpose of the grind. |

Also thought about doing chest runs for Ruby weapons and slapping "Measure for Measure" inscriptions on them and salvaging.. But then I thought about the chances of actually salvaging and getting a Ruby, and it's got to be damn near nothing.. Quote:

Name a figure in your storage, then anything above that goes to your Ranger. When your Ranger builds up enough cash to buy a single ruby, or a single sapphire, buy them. That way it will break that monstrously large figure into about 4k increments, which is a lot easier to deal with psychologically than building up 100k then splurging all at once on a large number of gems. Using that method I was able to get my Vabbian in about 4 months of farming GoK once or twice a day and getting about 1.2k per run in there. Nicely enough, at the end of the season I had 10 stacks of Orr Emblems built up, and was able to sell 6 of them for about 80k, and spend the rest on holiday items. |

I do the free chests for cash too---sometimes you can get a gem out of them too.

I just work towards a title, vanquisher works well, and just save everything that I get. I try to keep around 100k in my storage, and when I get more, I buy whatever I need. You'll find you can get it in what seems like no time.

Good Suggestions so far, If trade contracts are 400g ea, then I could make save some serious money off of those... that'd be 2.8k each ruby instead of 5k, which will just about slash the price the rubies in half..
might be worth trying to accumulate as many rubies via salvaging, or doing all the quests I can.. Either way, it should save some decent amounts of money, in the mean time I'll continue to work towards r8 LB, which is 25k points away, which presents more opportunities to make money. Feel free to post any other suggestions.. |

i've gotten several gems from the free chests in elona, as well as from hidden treasures in dungeons.
put a "measure for measure" inscription on ruby or jeweled daggers. save up some extra money for when you only have a couple gems left to get and don't feel like waiting |

You can also use your other chars to do the quests for trade contacts, if you arent planning to get additional sets for them as well.

Don't use Trade Contracts to get Sapphires. You may already know this, but get Rubies only with the Trade Contracts. Save the ones you need for the armor, sell the rest, and then buy the Sapphires with that money. 1 ruby = 2 sapphires basically.

Use trade contracts and buy em for around 400-500g each to get all 16 of your rubies. Then just buy sapphires from the vendor. Its really not that hard once you have all of the rubies, plus not many ppl want to farm all the trade contracts necessary to get the rubies

so in theory: Amount of contracts 7 * 16 ( Rubies ) + 8 * 7 ( Rubies, then selling for Sapphires ) = 168 Total Cost @ 450g/contract 168 * 450 = 75.6k This seems like the most efficient way by far.. Although, I'm seriously doubting the availability of Buying contracts at 450g ea (averaged price) .. |

I'll set aside a run and earmark everything from the run for my ecto fund. So for example if I wish to do 2 dungeons tonight, I'll complete empty my inventory and cash of all non-essentials and hit the dungeons. Afterwards, I'll merch/sell everything accumulated and the cash made will usually buy an ecto or 2. Oh yeah, almost forgot. PICK UP EVERYTHING!!!! I'm shocked how many people leave the white and blue items laying on the ground. Hey, they may not be worth a fortune, but they add up. |
